Ketamine Assisted Somatic Mindfulness Session

(KASM)

I believe that Somatics and Mindfulness create a beautiful intertwining of two powerful modalities that allow for the emergence of hidden facets within the individual. While some individuals can progress well without the need for additional therapeutics, I have found that the addition of safely controlled psychotropic medications can be a powerful enhancement for my clients in their sessions

What does a Ketamine Session look like?

  • Initial Session (60 minutes): In person meeting at clinic with myself and Dr. Kristian Flores, M.D, N.D. whom I work with in Ketamine sessions. Dr. Kristian Flores will establish eligibility of client and the session will focus on the following;

    • Building Trust and rapport

    • Understanding the history of the client

    • Exploring expectations, concerns, fears and response to anxiety

    • Explaining role of KASM (Ketamine Assisted Somatic Mindfulness) facilitation and holding therapeutic presence

    • Assessment, screening and orientation to what a KASM session looks like

    • Informed Consent: Honor pledge, ethical considerations, choice and agency, safety protocols, agreements and boundaries

  • With facilitator Ivonne Flores (can also be done online) the preparation session will cover:

    Part 1: Somatic intention setting:

    • Discovering the “why” behind the intention or guiding to finding the intention

    • Mapping the narrative: exploring client current resources (breathwork, meditation, spiritual practice, etc)

    • Mapping the narrative: relationships or community (support)

    • Creating Integration resources

    Part 2:

    • Procedures and operation of the Ketamine session

    • Ketamine Orientation; review of preparation instructions, things to bring to session and aftercare instructions

    • Intention remembering with either guided visualization or grounding exercise (15 min.)

    • Intravenous Ketamine Session (45-60 minutes)

    The last 45 minutes include;

    • Post KASM integration session

    • Recalling integration resources

    • Setting appt for integration session within 1 week of KASM session

    • Gathering information about the Ketamine experience and themes that emerged

    • Somatic integration: what is showing up in the body?

    • Inquiring about insights gained or highlights of the experience

  • Every additional KASM session includes a preparation session with somatic intention setting (30 minutes) as well as an integration session post KASM session (30 minutes)
