The soul always knows what to do to heal itself

a session with me…
What is somatics?
My work in mindfulness has organically brought me to a deep love for somatics. Somatics to me has been the turning to my body and what it senses to guide me into the spaces that want to be heard, seen, and cared for. I approach wellness holistically. This means that I recognize the interconnection between the mind, body and spirit and how they remember our lived experience. Somatics has been an empowering tool to be able listen deeply to the body and build trust in its innate wisdom. I believe that it’s within our own lived experience and within what arises that we can truly make new connections and write new narratives about who we are.
What does holding space mean?
I hold an active space during every mindfulness session with a client. It’s a very active holding of space and consciousness-within a very large container. I allow for the process to unfold, which can sometimes be just holding back and actively observing where the client is in the experience. In every session I trust my experience and intuition into the dance of holding and guiding as we enter into different possibilities together.
What wants to happen?
A beautiful question that reminds me and guides me back to what is here in this moment is...What wants to happen? Connecting to our wisdom and asking the body what it is ready for is a beautiful practice that has potential for great expansion. Sometimes we are curious but not quite ready and other times we step in and move through the sticky areas even though it feels like new terrain. The body knows when it is time and only each person can decide when that time will be.
